Hanoi tightens food safety for Mid-Autumn Festival 2025

A comprehensive plan aims to ensure food safety during the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival, targeting production facilities, businesses, and consumers across the city’s 126 communes and wards.

THE HANOI TIMES — The Hanoi People’s Committee has outlined intensified inspections and public awareness campaigns to curb violations and protect public health during Mid-Autumn Festival.

The campaign, running from August 15 to October 10, focuses on mooncakes, confectionery, and related food products throughout the city. Authorities will prioritize timely detection, prevention, and handling of violations to protect consumers and minimize risks of food poisoning and foodborne illness.

The Hanoi Department of Health will coordinate with other sectors and local authorities to conduct both specialized and inter-agency inspections. Key measures include stricter checks on hygiene standards, ingredient origins, labeling, and storage conditions, with warnings issued against moldy or expired goods.

Interdisciplinary inspection teams will monitor compliance, while local authorities are tasked with tracing unsafe products and securing commitments from businesses to adhere to regulations.

To enhance public awareness, the city will intensify communication campaigns targeting producers, businesses, and consumers to educate stakeholders on proper food handling, storage, and the importance of clear labeling.

By combining stringent inspections with robust public awareness initiatives, the city aims to ensure a safe and enjoyable Mid-Autumn Festival for all residents and visitors, reinforcing the city’s dedication to food safety and consumer rights.
