The US$400-million road project, among the key infrastructure projects in Hanoi, is scheduled for completion after four years of construction.
After four years of construction, the elevated Ring Road No.2 project, section Nga Tu Vong to Vinh Tuy bridge, has reached its final stage and is on track for completion this December.
The Ring Road No.2, with a length of 43.6km, would form a closed inner city traffic circle in Hanoi as it runs through Vinh Tuy – Minh Khai – Dai La – Nga Tu Vong – Truong Chinh – Nga Tu So – Lang – Cau Giay – Buoi – Nhat Tan – Vinh Ngoc – Dong Hoi – Gia Lam tunnel – Hanel industrial park – Vinh Tuy.
The project remains among the critical transport infrastructure projects in the capital, with total investment capital of nearly VND10 trillion (US$402.8 million).
Head of the project's consulting unit Hoang Quoc Cuong noted that the workload is 98% complete as workers put the finishing touches on the remaining items. "Immediately after all construction work is completed, the evaluation unit will carry out the testing process to put the project into operation in December," Cuong said.
He also highlighted the vigorous efforts of 300 workers at the construction sites, saying throughout four years, the project faced multiple difficulties, including the Covid-19 pandemic and rising prices of input materials, but saying high determination and efforts of all parties involved helped ensure the progress of the project.
Mai Minh Thang, Vice Director of the joint venture contractor Trung Nam – Trung Chinh said the last work item is the asphalted pavement of the ramps of Ring road No.2. “Everyone at the construction site is focusing on completing the project on time and with the highest quality,” he added.
