Hanoi to receive 50 thousand doses of Covid-19 vaccine

For the upcoming second round of Covid-19 vaccination, Hanoi city will pay attention to screening and ensuring vaccination criteria.

The Ministry of Health will allocate 50,000 vaccines doses to Hanoi in the time ahead.

Director of the Hanoi Department of Health Tran Thi Nhi Ha made the statement at the Hanoi Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control's meeting on April 5.

From March 29 to April 5, the number of people administered with vaccines was 260, bringing the total number of vaccinated people in the capital city to 7,679. Their after vaccination condition is normal, Ha said.

She added that Hanoi has gone 50 days, from February 16, without confirming any new Covid-19 cases in the community.

For his part, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health Hoang Duc Hanh said that the city would buy 15 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine to administer all its local residents aged 18 and over with finance from its own budget.

"Taking into consideration the population and migrant people living in the capital city, Hanoi would need 15 million doses of vaccine to give two shots for adults aged 18 and over, with the immunization coverage of 95%," Hanh said.

In this regard, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Chu Xuan Dung said that in the first round, Hanoi has prepared carefully for Covid-19 vaccination and ensured safety for all recipients.

“For the upcoming second round of Covid-19 vaccination, the city will pay attention to screening and ensuring vaccination criteria. The vaccine must be injected to the right people," said Dung.

The vice chairman praised related units for the excellent job of fighting Covid-19 and the methodical vaccination.

“The disease situation in Hanoi has been basically put under control; however, the potential risk of Covid-19 spreading is still high,” Dung noted.

He requested that in the coming time, departments, districts, and towns must enforce the disease control and prevention in their respective locations. Operational companies, restaurants and factories must abide by the Covid-19 protocols, Dung emphasized.

Hanoi, home to more than eight million people, has recorded 36 infections in the latest community transmission outbreak, which emerged in northern Vietnam in late January and later spread to 13 cities and provinces. The country's total number of coronavirus carriers currently stands at 2,637.
