Competitions on energy saving and environmental protection will also be held.

The city has asked relevant agencies to promote dissemination and mobilization of organizations, schools, businesses, households, and residential areas to actively respond to the campaign.

Earth Hour, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)’s initiative, is the largest and most participatory social event in the world. To date, about 7,000 cities in 172 countries and territories have responded to the campaign.

Vietnam has joined Earth Hour since 2009. This is one of the actions of the Vietnamese government and people to demonstrate the commitment to joining hands with the world in the fight against climate change.

In 2018, after one hour of lights off and reducing unnecessary use of electric equipment, Earth Hour campaign saved about VND834 million (US$35,862).
