Hanoi sets up management board for its Old Quarter

The new entity will raise people's awareness and responsibility in the conservation of Hanoi Old Quarter as well as protecting Hoan Kiem lake area.

The Hanoi People's Committee has decided to establish the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter.


The new entity is a merger of the management boards of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter.

It is responsible for coordinating with functional agencies to raise people's awareness and responsibility in conserving Hanoi Old Quarter, embellishing and promoting it, as well as protecting the Hoan Kiem lake area.


Besides, the management board will promote the image of Hanoi Old Quarter as well as the culture and history of Hoan Kiem Lake; take over and exploit a number of restored ancient relics and architectural works; call for investment and set up the Hanoi Old Quarter Conservation Fund; restore craft streets,amd traditional festivals in Hanoi Old Quarter, among others.


The Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter will monitor, inspect and handle violations in accordance with their competence in the fields of culture, society, commerce, service, and tourism in the area of ​​Hoan Kiem Lake, the walking space around the lake and surrounding areas as well as the Hanoi Old Quarter.


The management board will also provide services for tourists visiting the old town, the walking space around Hoan Kiem lake and surrounding areas, and Hanoi Old Quarter in accordance with the regulations.


Hoan Kiem Lake, a fantastic place in the heart of Hanoi, is famous for its mysterious legend and natural beauty, which have made it one of the most attractive destinations in the city.


As the tourist magnet of Hanoi city, the lake is a nice venue, a good gathering place for visitors and locals in four seasons in the Old Quarter.

The Hanoi Old Quarter, which covers an area of 82 hectares, 10 wards, and 78 streets in Hoan Kiem district, contains great values of culture, history and architecture for the capital and the whole country.
