Hanoi to speed up zoning process

The local government is now directing specific projects that will be implemented in the city for the first time.

Hanoi is striving to speed up the zoning process plans, in a move to proceed with socio-economic plans in the city.

Currently, Hanoi’s authority has approved 57/58 projects (26/35 zone planning and 31/33 general plans).

Based on approved general plans of districts and satellite towns, the city is developing 20 zoning planning projects in Soc Son (six zones), Xuan Mai (three zones) and Phu Xuyen (two zones), Son Tay (nine zones) and intends to build four zoning plans for Hoa Lac urban area.

In addition to the above-mentioned approved projects, the local government is now directing specific projects that will be implemented in the city for the first time, such as detailed planning of traditional village conservation and development, traditional crafts combined with tourism in Van Phuc (Ha Dong district) and Bat Trang pottery (Gia Lam district).

Besides, there is also plan for underground parking lots in four downtown districts, general plan for underground urban construction space in Hanoi’s downtown, plan for bus stations, parking lots, logistics centers and caferias along expressways. The planning is aimed to facilitate management, architectural planning, construction investment, and promoting the capital’s socio-economic development.

Hanoi’s authority has also organized to build 28 regulations on urban architecture management, including two specific regulations, 12 district and town regulations and 14 town regulations. 

The city also plans to rebuild 20 old apartment building complexes. So far, the Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture has reported the idea to the Hanoi People's Committee on 15 zones, the remaining six zones are under plan-making.

The city’s government also made detailed plans for five concentrated social housing areas, with total area of ​​272.45 hectares and supplying an estimated 1.2 million square meters of housing floor.
