After ring road 4 is basically completed, construction of ring road 5 will be kicked off. Along with that, the city will also basically complete the network of elevated freeways in the downtown.
Hanoi will start construction of ring roads 4 and 5 in the 2021 – 2025 period, the city’s Department of Transport said, adding that these are important traffic routes that complete the backbone traffic infrastructure in the capital, local media reported.
Specifically, after ring road 4 is basically completed, construction of ring road 5 will be kicked off. Along with that, the city will also basically complete the network of elevated freeways in the downtown.
The detailed plan for ring road 4 was approved by the Vietnamese government in 2013 with a total investment of about VND66,500 billion (US$2.86 billion). The road, with a total length of 98 km, will run through 14 districts in Hanoi and other two provinces. The first end is at km3+695 on Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway (Soc Son district) and the end of the route is at about km35+300 on Noi Bai - Ha Long highway (Bac Ninh city). The section running through Hanoi is 56.5 km long.
Meanwhile, ring road 5 will go through the administrative boundaries of 36 districts and cities of Hanoi, Hoa Binh, Ha Nam, Thai Binh, Hai Duong, Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Vinh Phuc provinces. The road has a total length of more than 331 km, of which, the section in Hanoi city is about 48 km long.
Also in the period of 2021-2025, Hanoi city intends to complete the remaining sections of ring road 3 while some sections of the road have been put into operation. The whole route has a length of about 65 km, passing through districts of Dong Anh, Bac Tu Liem, Nam Tu Liem, Cau Giay, Thanh Xuan, Thanh Tri, Hoang Mai, Long Bien and Gia Lam.
For radial road system, the city will complete the entire section of belt road 4 connecting national highway 1A, axis of Ho Tay - Ba Vi, national highway 6 and 3.
