Hanoi to strengthen cooperation with European regions and cities

According to Hanoi`s 2016 program of foreign activities, Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Hang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee led a delegation to visit and work in Switzerland, Spain and Italy, at the end of July and beginning of August.

The working visit aims to enhance exchanges, promote friendship and cooperation relations between Hanoi and the European Capitals, opening opportunities and potentials for future cooperation.

In Switzerland: Strengthening cooperation in the fields of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage and tourism development; in the fields of health sector and social welfare, transport, environment and urban management.

In the framework of the mission, on July 27, in Geneva, the delegation worked with two state government ministers - Mr. Luc Barthassat, Minister of Environment, Transport and Agriculture; and Mr. Mauro Poggia, Minister of Society, Health and Employment.

At the meeting, ministers shared the Hanoi delegation about the projects of Swiss government and State government in the field of urban waste management and public transport, including bus projects of TOSA (Trolleybuses Optimisation Système Alimentation) operated by electricity generated from fast-charging battery system, that is one of the most modern project of public transport in Geneva. This project will be put in use in 2018 in Geneva, that will help carrying more passengers (about 120 passengers / a flight) and contributing to reducing air pollution and noise.

Deputy Secretary of Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang thanked for the sharing and open exchange by her partner, at the mean time expressing her impression on the development and the valuable experience of Geneva in the field of environmental protection, urban planning. She desires that this visit will open up new opportunities for cooperation between Hanoi and Geneva in the field of environment, education and training, health and contribute to push the two Cities' bilateral ties to new height.

In Spain: Learning experience in religious affairs and preserving, restoring and promoting the value of cultural heritage that serve for tourism development.

In Spain, the delegation had working sessions and discussions with leaders of the Ministry of Justice on religious affairs; Government leaders of the Madrid City.

The two sides have exchanged a number of content related to the renovation of the urban landscape and the management, conservation of cultural heritage. Hanoi expressed its desire to learn valuable experience of Spain in the fields, towards the promotion of specific cooperation activities between the two sides in the future, concentrate the exchange possibilities for cooperation in the field of conservation, heritage restoration, tourism development.

In Italy: Expanding cooperation between Hanoi and Lazio in four potential areas

On July 31, Hanoi Party Committee's delegation left Madrid, continued to visit and work in Italy. Here, the delegation met with representative leaders of Lazio, with their warm welcome.

The two parties reviewed the milestones in the friendly cooperative relations between Hanoi and the Lazio region, and exchanged frankly and openly about the opportunities, potentials for cooperation between the two provinces in the near future. Leaders of the two sides agreed to cooperate in the proposed four key areas: culture, tourism, economy, urban planning, environmental issues

In the framework of the working trip in 3 countries, Hanoi delegation met and worked with the Vietnam Embassy in Switzerland, Spain and Italy. Vice Secretary of Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang exchanged, informed of Hanoi's socio-economic and political situation for the past time and the future focus. Deputy Secretary expressed her desire that the Embassy continues to be a bridge to contribute nurture and develop the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries in general and between the Capital of Hanoi and the major cities of the countries in the future.

The visit in Italy ended the work program of Hanoi's delegation, that was a success, contributing to the promotion and expansion of cooperation between Hanoi and the cities of Europe in numerous fields: culture, tourism, urban management, environment protection, transportation, religious affairs. The content of cooperation discussed during the working visit will be a prerequisite for the practical cooperation, efficiency between the Capital of Hanoi and the cities of Switzerland, Spain and Italy in the near future. Thereby, contributing to the socio-economic development of the Capital, to fulfill the strategic mission and action plan of the city, at the mean time contributing to the consolidation and strengthening bilateral friendly cooperation between Vietnam and Switzerland, Spain and Italy.
