Hanoi tourism thrives in October

The latest figures from the Hanoi Department of Tourism show strong growth in both visitor numbers and revenue, setting a solid foundation for the capital’s year-end targets.

THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi’s streets were buzzing in October as the capital welcomed an estimated 2.27 million visitors, up 8.9% from a year earlier, according to the Hanoi Department of Tourism.

International travelers led the surge, rising 17.8% to 695,000, while domestic tourists added 1.58 million visitors, marking a 5.3% increase.

The influx translated into strong earnings for the city, with tourism revenue reaching VND9.93 trillion (US$377.5 million). Hotel occupancy also edged up slightly to 59.9%, reflecting the city’s rising appeal.

In October, Hanoi launched new attractions and experiences to keep visitors engaged, including night tourism at Soc Temple and community-based tours highlighting local culture. Food lovers found plenty to savor, from street-side pho stalls to bustling markets.

Looking ahead, November promises even more action with the Hanoi Autumn Festival and Ao Dai Tourism Festival, alongside a push to promote agricultural, rural, and indigenous culture tourism.

Hanoi also continues focusing on developing agricultural, rural and indigenous-culture-associated tourism products.

Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, Dang Huong Giang, said the city is focused on diversifying offerings, improving service quality, and strengthening regional connections to cement Hanoi’s reputation as a safe, friendly and attractive destination.

“Diversifying tourism products, advancing digital transformation, strengthening regional connectivity, and enhancing service quality are key to boosting Hanoi’s competitiveness,” she said, cementing the capital’s position as Vietnam’s leading tourism hub.
