The Hanoi Urban Environment Limited Company (Urenco) has launched a plan to ensure environmental sanitation in preparation for cultural and political events of Hanoi in October 2020

Mr. Pham Van Duc, Deputy General Director of Urenco, said that in October, several important events are going to take place in the city, such as Hanoi’s Patriotic Emulation Congress, the 1010th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi (1010 - 2010), the 17th Party Congress of Hanoi Party Committee and the 10th session of the 14th National Assembly, among others. The company has requested other relevant units to urgently take measures to ensure environmental sanitation and urban aesthetics around the city.

Urenco strengthens garbage collection to ensure sanitation in the city

Urenco has asked the units to keep streets, alleys and residential areas clean by collecting, and disposing garbage and debris in residential areas. For commemorative activities and public political - cultural - art events at public places to be successful, it is crucial that environmental sanitation is guaranteed and maintained, especially in such areas as the Friendship Cultural Palace; the National Convention Center at No. 1 Thang Long Avenue, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi; the city’s thoroughfares; the delegation’s travel route; the surroundings of the hotels where the delegates are going to stay, among others. Similarly, garbage has to be treated without interruption at Nam Son and Xuan Son waste treatment complexes.

At the same time, labor safety, traffic safety, internal security and order, fire and explosion prevention and control ought to be guaranteed. Moreover, it is vital that the measures on prevention and control of the Covid pandemic, which is complicatedly developing, should be strictly adhered to. Functional forces and vehicles have to stand ready for being mobilized to deal with incidents at any moment.

Also according to Mr. Pham Van Duc, in the four downtown districts, Thang Long Avenue and Vo Nguyen Giap Street, it is important that relevant authorities mobilize human resources and vehicles to ensure and maintain sanitation by removing garbage and debris , as well as get ready to promptly perform unexpected tasks to be assigned by the People's Committees of districts, the Department of Construction and the People's Committee of the city. In other words, environmental sanitation should to be strengthened at public places, main streets, along with cultural, entertainment and sports venues.

It is necessary that Nam Son and Xuan Son waste treatment zones guarantee to ensure safety and treatment of waste to prevent breach of environmental security, and increase 24-hour watch in main rivers and lycheate reservoirs to timely handle any incident that may occur.

Lam Du, Van Don and 181 De La Thanh garbage transshipment, as well as Cau Dien waste treatment area have to make detailed plans, organize waste reception effectively and ensure environmental sanitation. They also have to closely coordinate with the local authorities in raising awareness about hygiene in the areas around the landfills, spraying insecticides, guaranteeing labor safety, security and order around the areas.
