Hanoi willing to support Cuba’s cultural activities

Hanoi's mayor Nguyen Duc Chung has affirmed that Hanoi will support the embassy in organizing the upcoming Cuba Cultural Day at the Ly Thai To monument.

Hanoi is willing to support Cuba’s cultural activities to be held in the capital city, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said at a reception for Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Lianys Torres Rivera on February 13.

Agreeing with Cuba’s programs to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relationship with Vietnam, Hanoi mayor Nguyen Duc Chung affirmed that Hanoi will support the embassy in organizing the upcoming Cuba Cultural Day at the Ly Thai To monument.

The mayor also agreed to a Cuban tilework project on Yen Phu street and requested the Cuban embassy to provide sketches of the painting so that Hanoi’s authorities can call for funding to build it.

Chung emphasized the long-lasting strong relationship between Vietnam and Cuba cultivated by Ho Chi Minh and Fidel Castro, adding that Hanoi’s authorities always welcome and support all activities which highlight and promote the bilateral ties.

He also thanked Cuba for inviting Vietnam to participate in the Havana International Book Fair 2020 as the honorary guest. The fair, which is taking place from February 6 to 16, is one of the most prominent annual cultural events of the Caribbean island nation .

For her part, the ambassador said the Cuban embassy will collaborate with Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organize the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba. On this occasion, some Cuban famous bands will be invited to perform in Hanoi and she counts on the support of Hanoi’s authorities for this activities.

Besides, the ambassador confirmed that with the support of the Hanoi People's Committee, her embassy will complete the tilework on Yen Phu street in the fourth quarter of 2020.
