Hanoi works closely with ADB to ensure progress of urban infrastructure projects

The Vietnamese government would soon approve financial mechanisms for Hanoi so that the municipal government can arrange funds for some urban projects.

Currently, Hanoi is determined to realize its dual goal of fighting Covid-19 and rebooting the economy, creating momentum for economic recovery, and the Investment Promotion Conference on June 27 is an important step, Chung said, adding that the municipal government’s support for people affected by Covid-19 pandemic is also being delivered timely.

For Hanoi’s metro line No.3 that connect Nhon and the Hanoi Railway Station, the Hanoi mayor believes that the National Assembly would soon approve a number of specific budgetary and financial mechanisms for Hanoi so that the municipal government can arrange funds for the project.

Chung expressed his hope that Eric Sidgwick in his new post will continue to contribute to Hanoi’s future development.

For his part, Eric Sidgwick congratulated Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general for effectively controlling the Covid-19 pandemic. This is really a great achievement and a lesson for many countries, including developed ones, he said.

ADB is willing to assist Hanoi to keep controlling the disease through multiple pathways, the ADB country director pledged.

Regarding the urban railway line No.3, Eric Sidgwick said he is happy that the project is on the right track. ADB will soon send experts to work in Vietnam and accelerate the progress of the important project.
