Hanoians contribution to Youth Month

Hundreds of young people attended the launch of Youth Month 2014 held in Hanoi on March 2.

The event included a wide range of practical activities aimed at improving the local environment. Youths united in cleaning streets along To Lich River, they collected rubbish, litter and construction waste materials, whitewashed the feet of more than 300 trees on Buoi Road in Ba Dinh precinct and removed posters in Quan Hoa ward, Cau Giay precinct. They also helped to keep traffic order at key intersections across the city.

In addition, the Hanoi Youth Union disseminated information on traffic culture for pupils and students at secondary schools in Cau Giay precinct and offered careers guidance to more than 1,500 students at colleges and universities.

At the opening ceremony various gifts were donated to villages, charity classes and disadvantaged children in the capital.

Hanoi Youth Union Vice Secretary Nguyen Khanh Binh said throughout the Youth Voluntary Year, Hanoi hopes to effectively implement voluntary activities, with a focus on building a community-based society

Young people are a key force in mobilising social resources for national development, therefore, and they need to promote responsibility for their nation.
