Hanoi’s Foreign Affairs in 2023: Creativity and proactive in the new context

Despite the challenges in 2022, the city's foreign affairs continue to maintain its pioneering position and is heading to new year with fresh targets.

The new context

Last year, Hanoi involved all municipal sectors in carrying out external relations tasks, thus the job were  rolled out comprehensively at the municipal government and people – to – people levels.

 The conference's scene

Such was the opinion agreed at the conference on the deployment of Hanoi’s External Relations tasks in 2023  held in the capital on January 5.

Despite the challenges, the city's foreign affairs continue to maintain its pioneering position. Friendship relations were expanded, successfully attracting cooperation and support from international partners to the rapid and sustainable construction and improvement of the capital city, overcoming Covid-19, promoting socio-economic recovery and the integration process, improving Hanoi's position in the international arena.

 Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu highly appreciated Hanoi's efforts and achievements in foreign affairs recently. The capital's creativity has contributed significantly to the deployment of the country's foreign policy, he said, stressing that in the increasingly complicated global context, foreign affairs activity becomes more crucial, and 2023 will be a very important period for Vietnam and the foreign affairs sector in particular.

Vu called for strengthening coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Hanoi in holding events; promoting trade and investment promotion activities; and strengthening training for officials, especially those involved in advisory matters.

He believed that with the determination and strict supervision of city leaders, the creative spirit, solidarity and determination of Hanoi's foreign affairs staff, many positive results will be achieved and Hanoi will become a model for local foreign affairs, making great contributions to the city's development.

Foreign Affairs play an important role to the common target

Standing Vice Chairman of the city's People's Committee Le Hong Son said that the city's foreign affairs will strictly conform to the government's political tasks, foreign affairs guidelines and the city's socio-economic development program.

Son asked city agencies to cooperate closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasizing the need to further strengthen relations with traditional partners.

 Individuals and units with outstanding contributions to the capital's foreign affairs received certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee.

 Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs Ngo Minh Hoang affirmed that cadres and officials in charge of the city's foreign affairs will earnestly and comprehensively follow the guidance to fulfill the city's key directions and solutions.

Hoang believed that, towards 2023 with new opportunities and challenges, on the basis of current outcomes, determination and creativity, with the close guidance of the city's leaders and related ministries and branches, the active participation of units, Hanoi's foreign affairs will achieve socio-economic achievements and successfully fulfill the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress as well as the Resolution of the 17th City Party Congress.

At the conference, individuals and units with outstanding contributions were honored and awarded certificate of merit from the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee.
