Hanoi’s second metro line tested

Hanoi’s second metro line project’s elevated section is now 90% complete and the trains ran 8.5 kilometers on elevated tracks through eight stations.

Hanoi’s second metro line from Nhon to Hanoi Railway Station tested its elevated section on July 1, preparing to begin commercial operations this year.

The trains ran 8.5 kilometers on elevated tracks through eight stations, from Nhon in Bac Tu Liem District to the University of Transport and Communications in Dong Da District.

Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station project’s elevated section is now 90% complete and the four-kilometer underground section is 70% finished.

The Nhon-Hanoi Railway Station metro line, the second route after Cat Linh-Ha Dong, spans 12.5 kilometers from Nhon in the western district of Nam Tu Liem through Kim Ma street to the Hanoi Train Station in the downtown area.

The total cost of the project has been adjusted upwards to EUR1.176 billion. Of the total, EUR178.7 million is sourced from the ODA fund provided by the French Development Agency (AFD) and EUR355.1 million are loans from the French Government.

It is one of several metro lines planned for the capital city to ease traffic congestion and reduce emissions.

The followings are photos of the elevated section of Hanoi’s second metro line:

During the interoperability test phase, trains will be operated along the route, in different modes corresponding to each speed range.

Specific test procedures for the trains: checking the accuracy of locating devices, transceiver locations, and testing the stability of the power supply system as well as the accuracy of the transmission system along the line.

Train tracks are seen from the cockpit.

The connection between the components to ensure the functioning of the system will be performed safely and stably when the project is put into operation.

The fire extinguisher is located under the passengers’ seats.

After completing the interlock test, the trains will be on the trial run.
