Hanoi's socio-economic situation achieve comprehensive results

On August 1 morning,  the second Session of Hanoi City Council XV, tenure of 2016-2021 was officially opened. The 2nd session of the City Council is first session after the apparatus of People's Committee and City Councils elected at the first session take into operation.

Attending the Session, there are Member of the Politburo and Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai; Mr. Do Ba Ty, a member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly; Member of the Party Central Committee, City Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung.

In the morning of the first day, Mr. Nguyen Doan Toan - Deputy City Chairman reported on the results of implementing the socio-economic plan in the first 6 months of 2016.

Deputy City Chairman Doan Nguyen Toan said that in the first half of 2016, the operator of the direction of the City People's Committee has be innovative, aggressive, comprehensive, practical. Besides the amendment and supplement of working regulations in line with the Law on Organization of the local government, the MPC has focused on reorganization and staff to strengthen the organization and bureaucracy. Moreover, the program, plan, define tasks for the period of 2016 - 2020 has been basically completed the construction.

Hanoi’s index of industrial production (IIP) in the first seven months of this year grew robustly, surging by 7 percent year-on-year. From January to July, the processing and manufacturing industry posted a yearly rise of 7.3 percent while electricity production and distribution grew 7.8 percent. Water supply and waste and sewage management and treatment increase by only 0.6 percent.

Industrial products that posted high growth included food (21 percent), clothing (31.9 percent), medicine (25.4 percent), steel and iron (20.7 percent) and furniture (107.2 percent). The IIP, however, declined for several products such as mining (36 percent), wood and wood-based products (35 percent), beverage (9.3 percent), textiles (4.4 percent) and chemicals (6.5 percent). The outlook for the city’s industrial production in the second half of the year is bright thanks to the expansion of processing and manufacturing and the development of support industries.

However, according to Deputy Chairman of the MPC, besides the achievements, the implementation of socio-economic plans in first 6 months of 2016, there are some limitations and weaknesses: Some economic indicators are still low compared to the plan; The rate of disbursement is lower than capital construction over the same period of 2014, 2015; The inspection and handling violations in construction order in some localities are not aggressive.

About tasks and solutions for last 6 months of 2016, Deputy Chairman of the MPC said that, besides the implementation of the commitments, programs and plans, the city also continue to improve the investment climate strong, boost manufacturing export business. To speed up disbursement and improve the efficiency of public investment, ensure the completion of the target revenue and expenditure budget.

Moreover, the city will also strengthen the management of planning, construction order, the municipality; Development of the cultural - social career; Consolidation, stability and security of politics, social order and safety; Stepping up administrative reform, the fight against corruption, settling complaints and denunciations.
