The 18th IJSO was held in the UAE from December 12-22. Nearly 400 students aged 15 years and younger from 59 countries and territories around the world met both direct and online forms to test their knowledge and skills in physics, biology, and chemistry.
The contest's questions are always academic, requiring high inference, analysis and scientific skills. In particular, the questions in the 2021 exam were integrated questions of high practical nature, which were more difficult than those of the previous years' exams.
This is the tenth year, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has been authorized by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Hanoi People's Committee to select a national team representing Vietnamese students in the IJSO.
Overcoming difficulties due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the team members have tried their best to study and bring about excellent results.
The IJSO is an annual individual and team competition in the natural sciences for fifteen-year-old students.
The first IJSO was held in 2004 in Jakarta, Indonesia. Each year, the contest is held in a different country with the purpose of creating competition in knowledge, encouraging students to approach practical scientific knowledge around the world.
This is also an annual destination for nations to share education experiences to develop the quality of education and create momentum for global education cooperation.
Besides, it creates opportunities for cultural exchange between students and teachers in the scientific community.
