Hanoi’s students to compete at finals of Robotacon WRO 2024

The competition's theme was "Earth Allies," featuring various challenging categories.

A group of students from Hanoi will join the final round of the Robotacon WRO 2024 which will take place in Singapore and Turkey in November.

Team NSHM-HSRL-B0-02 with students Le Dinh Quang Bao, Nguyen Minh Hai, and Nguyen Tuan Duong from Ngoi Sao Hanoi School will compete for the B0 category (ages 6 to 10).

They were among 99 students from 33 teams including 13 teams in the 8 to 19-year-old group and 20 teams in the 6 to 10-year-old group earned the right to compete in the World Finals after the country’s qualifiers concluded on August 24 in Ho Chi Minh City after one month, attracting over 350 contestants from 299 schools across 28 provinces.

Notably, many students from Hanoi won top prizes, including teams from Ngoi Sao Hanoi, Giang Vo Secondary School, and Wellspring School. The competition's theme was "Earth Allies," featuring various challenging categories.

Among the winning teams, there were 8 students from various schools in Hanoi who achieved notable results. These teams will compete against 95 teams from the US, Denmark, Malaysia, Singapore, and Turkey in the World Finals, scheduled for November 2024 in Singapore and Turkey.

Jesper Hassellund Mikkelsen, Vice President of the LEGO Group and General Manager of LEGO Manufacturing Vietnam, the sponsor of Robotacon WRO 2024, expressed his delight at the large number of Vietnamese students participating in this prestigious robotics contest. 

This year, the Robotacon WRO 2024 was held under the theme “Earth Allies” divided into three categories comprising ROBOMISSION stage with four stages (B0, B1, B2, B3) focusing on constructing and operating the robots, Future Innovator stage with one stage (B4) focusing on the working skills of 21-century Students, ROBOT SPORT stage with one stage (B5) focusing on high technique in constructing and operating robots. 

The champion of each category will receive a trophy, medals, the opportunity to represent Vietnam at the WRO World Finals, and LEGO gifts from sponsors, including the "Raising the Bar Awards" from Vinamilk. All participating teams will also receive a certificate from the Danish Embassy.

For the B0 category (ages 6 to 10), which will compete in Singapore also include Team NSHM-HSRL-B0-02 with students Le Dinh Quang Bao, Nguyen Minh Hai, and Nguyen Tuan Duong from Ngoi Sao Hanoi School.

Team EUREKA – GAMES with students Le Ky Minh, Nguyen Manh Hung, and Nguyen Thanh Tin from Quang Trung Primary School, UK Hue School, and Nguyen Trai Primary School.

Additional Vietnamese teams heading to Singapore include: Team Doan Thi Diem 02 and Team Doan Thi Diem 03 from Doan Thi Diem Primary School, Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City; Team Dinh Phuoc 2 from Dinh Phuoc Primary School, Binh Duong

B1 Champion (ages 8-11): Team GV2-HSRL-01 with students Nguyen Quang Minh, Pham Nhu Lam, and Tran Minh Quan from Giang Vo Secondary School, Hanoi.

 

B2 Champion (ages 11-14): Team HONG BANG 1 with students Vu Duc Hung Anh, Hoang Chi Nguyen, and Doan Thanh Nhan from Hong Bang Secondary School, Ho Chi Minh City.

 

B3 Champion (ages 14-19): Team FLASH with students Le Kim Minh Nhat from Australian International School, Nguyen Doan Nguyen Khang from Blair Academy, and Nguyen Nhat Nam from Duc Tri Secondary and High School.

 

B4-01 Winner: Team GUARDIANS OF EARTH with students Nguyen Le Hoang Quan, Nguyen Thuy Linh, and Vuong Trong Khang from Wellspring International Bilingual School, Hanoi.

 

B4-02 Winner: Team DONG HAI with students Nguyen Ngoc Mai An, Quach Gia An, and Tran Hung Phat from My Phuoc Secondary School, Binh Duong.

 

B4-03 Winner: Team SEDBERGH VIETNAM with students Bui Nhat Phuong, Huynh Tieu Tran, and Pham Minh Dai Nam from Sedbergh Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City.

 

B5 Winner: Team CARLOS ALCARAZ with students Dang Minh Quang from Nguyen Hue Specialized High School, Nguyen Minh Hoang Giang from Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School, and Le Hoa Hieu from Specialized High School for Natural Sciences, Hanoi.

Other Hanoi teams achieving second and third places in B1, B2, and B3 categories include: GREENAMSROBOTICS from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School and Specialized High School for Natural Sciences; XLR8 and BL_KE INCREDIBLE from Kid Engineer Center; HSRL-B3-A3 from HSRL Center, Hanoi; GV-HSRL-B1-01 from Giang Vo Secondary School, Hanoi.

These teams will represent Vietnam at the World Finals.
