Heineken targets to invest in high-tech application in Vietnam

Hanoi’s authorities have asked the Dutch brewer to continue cooperating with the city in the coming time.

Heineken’s policy of researching and developing high-tech application to ensure green environment is completely compatible with the development orientation of Hanoi, the city’s mayor Nguyen Duc Chung said at the meeting with Alexander Koch, Heineken Vietnam’s CEO, on June 24.

Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung and Alexander Koch, Heineken Vietnam’s CEO hold talks on June 24.

The Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee congratulated Koch on being appointed CEO of Heineken Vietnam, and wished him a successful term.

With the outstanding achievements of the company in 2019, Chung said that he fully supports its strategy in Vietnam – Heineken’s world second largest market.

For his part, Koch thanked the city’s mayor Chung for a warm reception. He congratulated Vietnam and Hanoi for initially succeeding in pushing back Covid-19.

Chung asked Heineken Vietnam to take part in the campaign “When you drive, never drink”, as well as support the upcoming Formula 1 Vietnam Grand Prix to be held in Hanoi.

Thirty years after making inroad into the Vietnamese market, Heineken has contributed nearly 1% to Vietnam’s GDP, directly and indirectly creating 212,000 jobs.

Alexander Koch attributed the company's achievements to the support from local authorities, including those from Hanoi.

As the Dutch brewer desires to continue investing and developing sustainably in Vietnam, it identifies many goals such as creating more jobs; reusing 100% of water and sending zero waste to landfill.

Statista, a German market research company, has predicted the annual growth rate of Vietnam beer market will be around 5.6% in the period 2019-2023. This means that Vietnamese will pay US$9.6 billion to drink beer in 2023, from US$7.7 billion in 2019.
