The Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam in coordination with the Consulate-General of Japan has organized the exhibition on handicrafts of Japan’s Tohoku in Ho Chi Minh City from October 31 to November 11.
The exhibition themed “Beautiful Handicrafts of Tohoku, Japan” aims at highlighting the anniversary of the March 11th, 2011 earthquake and tsunami in the Tohoku region and helping Vietnamese people understand more about the diverse and exquisite world of Tohoku traditions.
In spite of suffering the disaster, local residents have stood united to rebuild the land and bring their lives back to normal.
The exhibits feature works of famous local artisans in different crafts such as ceramics, lacquer ware, textiles, metalwork, wood and bamboo crafts.
