Important bridge to promote Hanoi's foreign investment cooperation

On June 21, Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee had a meeting with the newly-appointed Ambassadors, the Vietnamese Consul Generals in 2016-2019 term.

At the meeting, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung wished the Ambassadors, the newly-appointed Consul Generals will fulfil the tasks assigned, contribute to the cause of building and protecting the country, improve the country's position in the current integration period, leaving their mark on the term of 2016-2019.

In the context that the country and the Capital are deeply integrating with the international economy via the bilateral and multilateral agreements, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung affirmed the important role of the Ambassadors, Consul Generals in the integration of cultural, socio-economic process in the Capital.

Recently, Hanoi has successfully hosted the conference "Hanoi 2016 - Investment cooperation and development", which introduced more than 100 investment projects (Series I - 2016) with 43 ones, with a total expected investment of 372,250 billion; 52 projects calling for investment (PPP), in the period of 2016-2020, investment is expected to 338,725 billion. Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung said, up to now, most of this project are already registered by investors.

City Chairman confirmed that aiming to follow on the success of attracting investment and development potential of above-mentioned cooperation, besides the activities of cultural exchanges, it is neccessary to promote investment cooperation, trade, capital and technology between countries in the world. Hanoi's approach to foreign investment sources in the coming time needs to focus on the acquisition and transfer of high technologies in the fields of health, energy, environment, urban transport, training human resources and so on. Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung especially recommended that the Ambassadors, the Consul Generals will serve as a bridge for firms, experts and foreign governments to promote cooperation in these key issues.

On behalf of the newly-appointed Ambassadors and the Consul Generals in the 2016-2019 tenure, Mr. Duong Chi Dung, Assistant Secretary, Chief of staff in Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that Hanoi is one of the first localities in the Capital's foreign affairs. Impressed by the projects, the city's development program and the Capital leaders' strategic vision, he confirmed that he will actively contribute to Hanoi's as well as Vietnam's development and integration.
