Inspirational examples of teachers in Hanoi

The "Teachers in My Eyes" 2022 contest tells touching and inspiring stories of teachers who dedicated themselves to their teaching careers.

The five entries that won the special prize of the "Teachers in My Eyes" contest in 2022, held by the Hanoi Education Union, praised teachers who are devoted to their teaching career, inspiring their students both in study and in life.

The strength of a male teacher in Gia Lam District

The essay "A Smart Teacher with a Bright Heart" by author Nguyen Ha Chi, a student of class 8E at Da Ton Secondary School in Hanoi's outlying Gia Lam District, tells a moving story about math teacher Nguyen Duc Truong.

Not as fortunate as his peers, when Truong was born he had congenital muscular atrophy due to his father being infected by Agent Orange. Truong was unable to walk until he was 7 years old. His first years in school were very hard.

Walking only less than 1 kilometer from home to school, but he repeatedly fell down. Although he suffered a lot of teasing from his friends, Truong was not discouraged but always strived to overcome his misfortune to become an exemplary and talented teacher.

He is the editor and co-author of dozens of mathematics books. In addition, Truong has been involved in the training of hundreds of domestic and international excellent students. In 2019, he was awarded the Hanoi Enthusiastic and Creative Teacher Award by the city's Education Union and the municipal Department of Education and Training. In 2020, he was one of 10 people honored by the Hanoi People's Committee as an elite citizen of the capital.

Over the past twenty years, several generations of Truong students have succeeded in both studies and life. In classes, the teacher not only teaches math but also tells life stories so that students understand that they have to have determination and patience to succeed. Truong has built beautiful dreams and ambitions for numerous high school students at Da Ton.

Dedicated teachers

The essay "The Green Dream Grower" depicts a physics teacher named Pham Thanh Minh. The work was done by the group of authors Trinh Minh Tri, Pham Gia An Hung, and Do Hoang Minh Trang, who are students of Thanh Xuan Trung High School, in the central Thanh Xuan district of Hanoi.

The work is like a slow-motion movie about the teacher's journey to cultivate dreams and sweet memories in students. Minh has changed her students, making them more active, positive, and progressive. She is like a gentle, fresh dawn knocking at the door to wake up young children and teach them to achieve their dreams.

Meanwhile “The Sower of Happiness” by Le Duc Minh and Nguyen Quynh Mai from Phu Minh Secondary School in Soc Son District tells the story of teacher Do Van Son.

Son always carries with him the aspiration and love for his profession. He also has a passionate heart and an open mind. With tireless efforts, he has overcome many difficult and challenging stages in his life to remain steadfast in his profession. During his career of nearly 30 years, he has contributed to inspiring many generations of Phu Minh High School students.

In "There is a very different principle," author Doan Ngoc Bao Nhi, a student of class 9E at Chuong Duong High School in Hoan Kiem District, expressed her feelings about respectable principal Nguyen Thi Van Hong.

"She is a simple, friendly, and kind teacher who always loves and does everything for her students. It is thanks to her that Chuong Duong High School and the students who study here have changed for the better and grown day by day," Nhi told The Hanoi Times.

Teacher Van has always conveyed positive energy to students and teachers so that “Every day at school is a happy day”, Nhi added.

The exemplary teachers who won the special prize of the "Teachers in My Eyes" 2022 contest is a source of motivation for the teaching community in Hanoi. In addition, it also creates a valuable opportunity for each person to remember their school days and, therefore, to respect and be thankful to their teachers.
