Japan’s IHW to build cutting-edge hospital in Hanoi’s Smart City

This project promises to transform Hanoi’s healthcare landscape and strengthen the bonds between Vietnam and Japan.

THE HANOI TIMES ─ A state-of-the-art hospital modeled after Japan's best medical facilities will be built in Hanoi's North Hanoi Smart City, marking a bold step in Vietnam-Japan healthcare cooperation.

The 200-bed project, led by Japan's International Healthcare and Welfare (IHW) Group, was unveiled during the meeting with the Hanoi People’s Committee authorities on April 28, coinciding with Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru's visit to Vietnam.

Inspired by the prestigious Sanno and Mita hospitals in Japan, which cater to high-profile personalities, the 2.5-hectare facility aims to provide world-class medical services.

It also serves as a clinical training center for Vietnamese doctors and setting international standards for healthcare management, meeting Vietnam's growing healthcare needs.

The IHW Chairman emphasized the strategic value of the Smart City site, a view strongly supported by Hanoi People's Committee Vice Chairman Nguyen Manh Quyen.

The meeting also highlighted IHW's long-standing contributions to Vietnamese healthcare, from partnering with Cho Ray Hospital to establish a Japanese-style healthcare center to offering full scholarships to top Vietnamese medical students. These students spend six years training in Japan, earning international certifications before returning to improve Vietnam's medical landscape.
