Japanese enterprises to invest 5 billion USD into Vietnam

The Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang and the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe witnessed the signing of cooperative programs with value up to 5 billion USD into ‘vietnam.

On November 10, The Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang welcomed the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attending the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week 2017 in Danang. Mr. Shinzo Abe thanked Vietnam on its warm welcome, and highly regarded the bilateral relationship with Vietnam for the benefits of the two countries; as well as Vietnam’s initiatives and active role in organizing the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week 2017 and the APEC year 2017. The Japanese leader stressed Japan will closely cooperate with Vietnam to ensure the successful of APEC Economic Leaders’ week.

The Japanese Prime Minister expressed his condolence on Vietnam’s loss due to the typhoon Damrey and announced the support of 105 filter water machines for victims in the affected areas; committed to continue providing Official Development Assistance (ODA) to Vietnam; supporting the training of high qualified human resources; recommending Japanese enterprises to take part in infrastructure development projects in transport and energy. The Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang welcomed Mr. Shinzo Abe to be reelected as the Prime Minister and thanked the Japanese government in supporting central provinces of Vietnam after typhoon Damrey. As such, the relationship between Vietnam and Japan has been improved comprehensively and practically. Mr. Tran Dai Quang highly appreciated Japan’s decision in providing ODA for Vietnam; hoping to increase the bilateral trade between the two countries and Japan to allow fresh fruits from Vietnam to be imported into the country. Moreover, Japan will continue supporting technologies for Vietnam in improving its negotiation capabilities on free trade agreements of new generations; expanding cooperation in health and education, improving the law enforcement in sea. 

Both two leaders were delighted with the strong improvement in the bilateral relation of Vietnam and Japan, and stressed the importance of facilitating the relation to a new level. With regard to the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), the two sides agreed to cooperate closely with other members to realize the deal. 

Vietnam and Japan will maintain high level state visits and improving efficiency in information exchange mechanism between related administrative agencies, especially on the occasion of 45th anniversary of diplomatic relation establishment between Vietnam and Japan. The two leaders also discussed issues interested by both parties. 

After the meeting, the President Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe witnessed the signing of cooperative programs between Japanese and Vietnamese enterprises, with value up to 5 billion USD, including: Memorandum of Understandings in field of energy between Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry & Trade and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Industry and Trade; the contract of Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant and Van Phong 1 Thermal Power Plant; cooperation between Vietnam Electronics and Mitsubishi; establishing the Department of health treatment with Japanese technologies in Cho Ray Hospital; and cooperation between Mitsui Bussan Corporation and Petro Vietnam.
