JF Garage Concert

Master works by international composers and will be played by distinguished musicians in Hanoi.

The Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam presents its 23rd act of the JF Garage Concert by Hanoi Brass Band & Friends in Hanoi on Friday, December 25, 2020.

Hanoi Brass Band was formed in 1998 when the original members were students of Vietnam National Academy of Music. In 2008, the band was officially named as Hanoi Brass Band with some changes of the members.

The band consists of six professional musicians from Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, Military University of Culture and Arts, Brass Ensemble of Department of Public Security, including: Kim Xuan Hieu (horn) - the band leader, Tran Hien (trombone), Le Minh Chieu (tuba), Nguyen Thanh Hai (trumpet), Phạm Van Hieu (trumpet) and Nghiem Manh Tuan (drums).

In the concert, Hanoi Brass Band will perform with Nguyen Hoang Viet (guitar) and Bui Anh Dung (keyboard). The organizer hopes to bring a cheerful evening of music to Hanoi and foreign audiences.

The performance features ‘Bugler’s Holiday’ by Leroy Anderson, ‘Have you ever seen the rain’ by John Cameron Fogerty, ‘Lança Perfume’ by De Carvalho Roberto and ‘Poker Face’ by Nadir Khayat & Stefani Germanotta, among others.

JF Garage Concert is a series of concerts at the garage and courtyard of the Japan Foundation in hope of introducing musical diversity to Hanoi through master works by international composers and played by distinguished musicians.

The concert starts at 8pm on Friday, December 25, 2020 at Japan Foundation Courtyard, the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam at No 27 Quang Trung street, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi.
