Hanoi removes lockdown on 11,000 people village

Before lifting the lockdown, all people in Ha Loi commune were tested for Covid-19. No one is positive with the virus and all residents in the commune now are in stable health conditions.

The lockdown order imposed on a village on the outskirts of Hanoi has been lifted after 28 days as its Covid-19 contagion risk has been ruled out, Kinhtedothi.vn reported.

Around 11,000 residents in Ha Loi village, Me Linh district, Hanoi burst with joy as they can come back to normal life since May 6 after 28 days under lockdown to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The lockdown is regarded as a prompt and necessary measure to prevent the transmissions of Covid-19 into community after a 47-year old villager, identified as patient No.243 in Vietnam, was confirmed to be positive with the virus on April 7.

He accompanied his wife for a checkup at Bach Mai hospital in Hanoi on March 12. The hospital then became the a pandemic epicenter in Vietnam, with more than 40 Covid-19 patients linked to it.

In addition, two others who were in close contact with him have caught the virus.

After detecting the case, local authorities identified more than 100 people who were exposed to the patient (F1) and more than 200 who came into contact with F1. Among them, there are 63 medical workers at Hanoi Obstetric and Gynecology Hospital who have tested negative for the virus.

However, since April 15, no cases of infection have been reported in the area.

Before Ha Loi, several Covid-19-hit areas in northern Vietnam were put under lockdown, including Son Loi commune in Vinh Phuc province in February and Bach Mai hospital in Hanoi in March.

Before lifting the lockdown, all people in Ha Loi commune were tested for Covid-19. No one is positive with the virus and all residents in the commune now are in stable health conditions.

As of May 6, Vietnam has marked the 20th consecutive day without community transmission. The three latest Covid-19 cases in the country are from abroad and were quarantined upon arrival.

At the time of writing, 232 out of total 271 Covid-19 patients in the country have been discharged from hospital.
