Mui Ne Beach named top watersports destination in Southeast Asia
Mui Ne has become a symbol of Vietnam’s coastal charm and a rising star in the global sports tourism.
THE HANOI TIMES — Mui Ne Beach in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong has been named one of Southeast Asia’s leading destinations by National Geographic Traveler for the regional “top watersports destination.”
About 22 km northeast of Phan Thiet City, Mui Ne has long been known as Vietnam’s “resort capital”, offering both natural beauty and adventure with its rare landscape of striking contrasts between vast sand dunes and the blue sea.

According to the US-based magazine, Mui Ne’s greatest advantage lies in its wind conditions.
The area enjoys strong, steady winds for around 260 days each year, making it ideal for kitesurfing, windsurfing, and sailing.
These predictable winds, combined with a tropical climate and a sheltered bay, mean that Mui Ne is less prone to storms than other coastal areas.
Mui Ne’s ideal weather, impressive scenery, and well-developed beachfront resorts make it a perfect destination for all types of travelers, from families and couples to thrill-seeking water sports enthusiasts.
In recognition of its growing appeal, Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has designated Mui Ne a national tourist site and expects it to become a key tourism hub in Vietnam's south-central region and the Asia-Pacific.
Lam Dong Province projects that it will attract nine million tourists by 2025, including 1.5 million international visitors. This total figure is expected to rise to 14 million by 2030.
