Vietnam aims to welcome 430,000 Russian tourists in 2025

Russia is now among Vietnam’s top 10 international source markets.

THE HANOI TIMES — Vietnam aims to welcome 430,000 Russian tourists in 2025, roughly double the number recorded in 2024, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT).

Ha Van Sieu, VNAT Deputy Director, said that Russia is expected to be a key contributor to Vietnam’s target of around 23 million international visitors this year.

"In the first half of 2025, Vietnam welcomed around 260,000 Russian tourists, compared to 232,300 Russian arrivals for all of 2024. Russia is the only international market posting a record growth rate of over 139%," he said.

Therefore, Vietnam’s tourism sector is ramping up promotional campaigns, improving service quality, and expanding air connectivity to attract more Russian tourists and sustain strong growth in this key market.

Specially, visa facilitation is supporting a greater influx of Russian tourists. Currently, visa-free travel is granted to Russian citizens for stays of up to 45 days in Vietnam. Meanwhile, Vietnamese travelers can apply for a 16-day e-visa to Russia, and proposals are under review to extend this period to 30 days.

Additionally, the resumption of commercial and charter flights by Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, Aeroflot, and Azur Air is key to bolstering tourism from Russia.

Both sides are actively promoting tourism through marketing events in Russian cities. Vietnam also plans to host Russian Culture Days, with the participation of airlines and travel firms.
