National day September 02: sufficient supply

In order to meet customers’ demand in the national day of September 02, retailing enterprises have increased their production capacities on essential products.

Information from supermarkets in Hanoi showed, the national day this year is on the weekend, so it is expected that product consumption to be increased in compared with usual. Director of Communication at Big C super-market Ho Quoc Nguyen said, consumption at Big C at this holiday will increase around 30-40% compared with normal days, while the focus will be with food products, drinks and clothes. In order to meet the customers’ demand and preventing the sudden surge of price due to product shortage, in recent days, super-markets such as Fivimart, Vinmart, Hapro Mart, Big C, etc have increased 40% products compared with normal days.

Along with super-markets, the same situation is also applied to traditional markets for an increase in food products and vegetables. Survey showed in recently, price of fresh food products is still stable. Many business households have been planning the supply to meet customers’ demand from days before the national holiday.

On the National day of September 02, it is also coincident with the Hungry ghost festival, where people make offerings to make the ghosts happy and ward of any possible bad luck. Therefore, business households are introducing to the market foods for vegetarians to meet the demand. Tran Thi Thu (Nguyen Luong Bang street) said: “the Hungry ghost festival this year, my family chose vegetarian food for offerings, as they are ready made products, which is quite tasty and cheaper than other kinds of food“. In reality, vegetarian food stores, super-markets, and traditional markets in Hanoi such as Hom market, Hang Be market and March 8 market showed vegetarian foods are quite diversified with hundreds of kinds.

According to survey conducted by reporters, spice for vegetarian is priced from 4,000-6,000 VNd for one pack, dry mushrooms from 130,000 – 160,000/kg. Besides vegetarian foods, Moon cake are favorite products at the market. At present, Kinh Do bakery has introduced to the market 4 new kinds of grilled cake, including green tea taste, almond cake, green bean cake, and black sesame cake with price of 62,000 VND per piece.

At the hungry ghost festival, some super markets also give out promotion events for discounted products. PR chief department of Lotte Mart Doan Diep Binh said, at the festival, Lotte Mart will hold a musical event form September 1-3.
