Party General Secretary attends investmen-labour cooperation forum in Kanagawa

In the framework of the working visit to Japan, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong attended a Vietnam-Japan investment, trade and labour cooperation forum and the Vietnam Day held in Kanagawa Prefecture on September 18.

Attending the forum were Kanagawa Governor Kuroiwa Yuji, local officials and more than 400 business representatives.
Speaking at the event, General Secretary Trong stressed that the comprehensive friendship and cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Japan is now developing rapidly and efficiently. 
Vietnam wishes to deepen the ties with Japan in various fields, especially in the economic field, the General Secretary added, stressing that boosting the bilateral economic cooperation is an objective demand which will bring both immediate and long-term benefits to the business communities and people of the two countries. 
In the past 20 years, Japan has provided Vietnam 2,500 billion yen of  Official Development Assistance (ODA), accounting for 30% of the country's ODA. Japan has been the Vietnam 's third largest trading partner with bilateral turnover in 2014 reached nearly 28 billion USD and expected to reach 30 billion USD this yeas.
The Japanese companies have also invested nearly 38 billion USD in Vietnam. This is an important foundation for further bilateral cooperation and economic connections.

The General Secretary said with political trust, cultural similarities, friendship, compatible interests and complementary economies, Vietnam and Japan have all conditions to further strengthen their relationship in the principle of “enhancing trust, increasing economic connectivity, expanding cooperation, developing sustainably and looking towards the future.” 
The Vietnam Day, which was held in Kanagawa from September 18-20, and the forum reflect the huge potential and desire for stronger cooperation between the two countries. 
General Secretary Trong urged local authorities and business communities of both countries to pave the way in realising agreements signed by leaders of the two nations, positively contributing to bringing the bilateral cooperation to a new level.
