The eight-day event aims to raise public awareness about the importance of preserving and protecting cultural heritages and introduced world heritages including the eight in Vietnam.
World heritage sites are beautiful treasures for humankind to explore, said UNESCO Chief Representative in Vietnam Katherine Muller Marin at the opening ceremony.
However, these heritages face challenges of being destroyed by natural disasters, urbanization, and environmental pollution. Preservation is the common responsibility of all communities in the world, she added.
On the occasion, a group of Phan Chu Trinh High School students won a US$1,000 prize for making a short film and had an opportunity to enter the world’s final round to be hosted by by Panasonic Group in 2015.
The event runs until October 25.
