Phung Thi Hong Ha elected Chairwoman of Hanoi People’s Council for 2021-2026

With years of leadership experience and strong commitment to public service, Phung Thi Hong Ha takes on a key role in Hanoi’s political system as she becomes Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Council for the 2021-2026 term.

THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi legislative delegates on November 13 elected Phung Thi Hong Ha, Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Council, as Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Council for the 2021-2026 term.

Phung Thi Hong Ha was born on May 1, 1971 in former Ung Hoa District, Hanoi. She joined the Communist Party of Vietnam in July 1995.

From July 1990 to July 2008, she worked and held several leadership positions at the former Ha Tay Province’s Department of Finance. When Ha Tay merged with Hanoi in August 2008, she became Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Finance.

In June 2012, she was appointed Secretary of the former Thanh Oai District Party Committee. Since June 2016, she has served as Vice Chairwoman of the Hanoi People’s Council.

She is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Hanoi Party Committees for 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th terms, a member of the Standing Board of the Hanoi Party Committees in 17th and 18th terms and a Hanoi People’s Council deputy in 14th, 15th and 16th terms.

At the inauguration ceremony, Ha said the new position is a great honor, challenge and responsibility at a time when Hanoi is undertaking major development goals.

The new chairwoman pledged to dedicate herself fully to the position, always prioritizing the interests of the Party, the people and the capital city.

“The Standing Committee of the Hanoi People’s Council, the city government and all departments will strictly implement the Party’s policies and resolutions, especially the five development viewpoints, 43 key targets, 10 core task groups and seven focus areas set out by General Secretary To Lam at the 18th Congress of the Hanoi Party Committee,” said Ha.

She also expressed her hope for continued support from the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the Government, the Hanoi Party Committee, the Hanoi People’s Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi and central and local agencies and organizations to successfully fulfill the assigned duties.
