Pilot selling fruits in Hanoi: Control quality and ensure public order

With the population of nearly 10 million, Hanoi has large demand on food, especially on fruits.

However, the quantity of fruits supplied from Hanoi is only 30%, while 70% is imported from other provinces/cities. At present, fruits are sold through different channels, in addition to modern channels such as: supermarkets, shopping malls, stores or traditional markets, a large number of fruits are sold in streets. This comes from the habit and citizens’ living standard. However, fruit selling in the streets pose the risks of being unhealthy, causing difficulties for administrative agencies to control the fruit quality, at the same time it causes public disorder.
