PM Nguyen Tan Dung has recently approved a plan on developing the Mong Cai Bordergate Economic Zone of Quang Ninh province to 2030 with a vision to 2050 on a 121,197ha area.
Demographically, the population is estimated to be 177,000-200,00 by 2020, including about 124,000 urban residents and about 53,000 country-dwellers, and 340,000-350,000 by 2030, including 293,000 and 47,000 urban and rural residents respectively.
Functional facilities, including bordergate managing agencies, duty free shops, financial and banking services, post offices, bonded warehouses, parking places and checkpoints, will be located at important locations of the border’s transport hubs.
Efforts will be focused on developing such advantageous and potential industries as construction material production, ship repairing and building, steel, oil refinery and chemicals, thermal power and industries supporting tourism while encouraging green, modern and techlonogically advanced industries.
Beside two big industrial zones of Hai Ha and Hai Yen, industrial clusters and facilities will be attached to economic restructure in high-quality agriculture, forestry and fishery in Hai Ha district and a part of Mong Cai city.
Quality of financing and banking services, which are planned to be based at convenient places in the Mong Cai Bilateral Economic Zone, will be improved in an advanced manner to turn Mong Cai city into an international standardized financial and banking center of the country.
The economic zone’s center should ensure urban transport convenience, security and national defence and match with the city’s future development.
