Press significantly contributed to the Capital's development

On the occasion of the 91st anniversary of Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925-2016), Hanoi authorities met with journalists ahead of the Press Day.

The Politburo member, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai; Permanent Deputy Secretary of Ha Noi Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang; President of the municipal Fatherland Front Vu Hong Khanh attended and presided over the meeting. The event also saw the attendance of Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Hung and Nhan Dan Editor-in-Chief, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists' Association Thuan Huu.

Permanent Deputy Secretary of  the Hanoi Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang visited and sent congratulations to officials, reporters, editors of Communist Review, Vietnam Journalists' Association, Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and Lao Dong Newspaper on the occasion of the 91st anniversary of Vietnam’s Revolutionary Press Day.

On behalf of the city leaders, Permanent Deputy Secretary Hang conveyed her congratulation to leaders, editors, journalists of four units. She also expressed strong appreciation for the efforts made by these units in communication work, connecting the authority with the people, contributing to the successful implementation of the political mission of Hanoi in recent years, especially in the success of the election of deputies to the National Assembly (NA) and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 tenure.

She hopes that Communist Review, Vietnam Journalists' Association, VNA and Lao Dong Newspaper will continue to be a driving force for social progress and development of the capital city, coordinate closely with the city on the information work to become a bridge linking city’s authority to the people; fulfill the political tasks, of which the very first task is to bring the Resolution of the 12th National Party Congress and the resolutions of all level Party Congress into life.

Leaders of Press organizations expressed their thanks to the care and attention paid by Hanoi's leaders in recent time, hopping that they will continue to receive the cooperation of city leaders and all levels and units and people of the city to complete the information work to build a prosperous, civilized and modern capital city.

At the mean time, the municipal Party Committee, People's Council, People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee held a cordial meeting to gather leaders, journalists, editors of news agencies in the Capital in celebration of the 91th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

At the meeting, Municipal Party Secretary Hoang Trung Hai conveyed his greetings and best wishes to journalists on the occasion of the 91st Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day. He praised the press agencies’ collaboration and performance and highlighted efforts of senior journalists in continuing contributions to the development process of the capital city in recent years, actively combating the negative manifestations of corruption, and wastefulness, protecting sacred national sovereignty, rejecting truth-distorting rhetoric from hostile forces, and safeguarding the Party’s guidelines and policies.

Party Secretary said that press has quickly and comprehensively report every corner of the political and socio-economic situation to readers in recent years. The revolutionary press is an extremely important tool to fulfill political task and is also a means to constantly push forward social development.

Journalists are always abreast of reality to provide information and insightful analysis on daily happenings in all fields in every corner of the city, contributing greatly to expanding foreign relations, building a more peaceful, youthful, dynamic city in the eyes of international friends. The press continues to be the main force in shaping public opinion, actively involved in monitoring, criticizing, and giving comments to build the Party and State's guidelines and policies, added Hai.

He also affirmed that the municipal Party Committee, People's Council, People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee always highly appreciate the important position and role of the press for the construction and development of the capital city; give special attention to the activities and the development of the press; actively cooperate and support press in the professional activities and other activities of the news agencies. He expressed his hope that journalists would continue to coordinate closely with the city on the information work to build the capital city and the country to be more prosperous and civilized.

Addressing the meeting, Nhan Dan Editor-in-Chief Thuan Huu, Vietnam Journalists' Association permanent Deputy Chairman Ho Quang Loi and representatives of center and municipal news agencies, newspapers thanked and appreciated the attention, facilitation of the city's leaders to help municipal press complete their tasks. They affirmed that they will continue to accompany the city to promote its strengths and overcome drawbacks, to better serve its citizens.
