Prime Minister Chinh calls deeper global integration a national mission
International integration has accelerated domestic institutional reforms, implemented signed agreements, and strengthened Vietnam’s global standing, influence and voice in international affairs.
THE HANOI TIMES — Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called on ministries, government agencies and localities to act decisively, ensuring global integration becomes a shared mission of the entire nation.

At the inaugural meeting of the National Steering Committee on International Integration on August 26, Chinh outlined future directions and key tasks, and described the work ahead for 2025 and beyond as “heavy, challenging, yet honorable.”
He urged all stakeholders to continue promoting the implementation of the Politburo’s Resolution No. 59 on international integration in the new context.
"International integration must be the cause of the entire people," said Chinh, who is also head of the Naional Steering Committee on International Integration.
“Citizens and businesses must remain at the center. They must serve as key factors to drive Vietnam into a new era of prosperity, civilization, and well-being,” he said.
Chinh urged government agencies and ministries to shift their way of working with international organizations and partners.
"From merely joining agreements, we should help reshape global rules, attract resources and contribute to international efforts, making integration a core, ongoing task," he added.
The ministries of Foreign Affairs, Industry and Trade, and Home Affairs must work on concrete plans for the Steering Committee’s 2025 agenda and the longer-term strategy for 2026-2030, Chinh said.
He also called on the National Assembly to provide amendments to existing rules that foster Vietnam's deeper global integration, especially focusing on the implementation of the Politburo's four resolutions on science, technology and innovation, global integration, private sector development and lawmaking.
According to the prime minister, the country needs to accelerate preparations for major international integration events, including the signing ceremony of the United Nations (UN) Convention against Cybercrime in October, the APEC Summit in 2027 and major global forums.
Chinh also stressed the importance of fulfilling Vietnam's commitments to high-level diplomatic engagements. This year, Vietnam has signed and joined 267 international commitments and agreements, double the figure of 2024.
He also expected that Vietnamese diplomatic missions will help expand markets for Vietnamese goods, enhance relations with traditional partners, explore new ones in the Middle East, South America, and Africa, and get more involved in global supply chains.
“It's our major responsibility to keep our credibility with international partners, and affirm Vietnam as a reliable and responsible member of the global community,” he added.

According to Prime Minister Chinh, international integration in recent years has helped Vietnam consolidate a peaceful, stable environment for development amidst global volatility and achieve positive socio-economic developments.
In January-July, Vietnam's exports exceeded US$514 billion, and foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows reached $24.1 billion, with $13.6 billion disbursed. Vietnam was among the top 15 FDI destinations in the developing world.
Since the adoption of Resolution No. 59 on international integration, Vietnam has expanded and upgraded its network of partners, and maintained comprehensive and higher-level partnerships with 38 countries.
