Gymnast Dinh Phuong Thanh on June 8 put in a nearly-perfect performance to win a gold medal in the men’s individual all-around final in the Gymnastics-Artistic at the 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore.
This is the first gold medal Thanh won at a SEA Games and Vietnam’s first gold medal of the third day.
Thanh got the highest points in all events except for the rings to accumulate 86.150 points, ahead of Pham Phuong Hung, who made a mistake in the pommel horse event and had to settle for a silver with 85.250 points.
The bronze medal went to Gan Gabriel of Singapore.
Vietnam also won five bronzes in the morning in diving, boxing, two in canoeing and in Petanque.
