At a meeting with Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh, the German executive highlighted Siemens' assets regarding railway development, car building, and signaling system inauguration.
He said that Siemens has been adopting artificial intelligence (AI) and energy-saving solutions in recycling wastes into energy and building facilities, adding that the German company hopes to be a part of local projects in Hanoi.
The Siemens president and CEO expected that the German industrial group will be able to strengthen its partnerships with Vietnamese peers, citing the company's cooperation with e-vehicle manufacturer VinFast, tech group FPT Corporation, and telecommunication enterprise VNPT.
Vietnam, with the strength of a 100-million population and determination to grow a green, digitalized economy, will be a promising land for businesses around the world, including Siemens, he said.
Roland Busch also noted that Siemens is capable of providing proper solutions to meet Hanoi's demand for green and sustainable growth and that drawing foreign companies into Hanoi is essential to developing a local business ecosystem.
He anticipated that Siemens Vietnam would be able to expand its local network and enhance the firm's penetration in the country for the years to come.
In his part, Hanoi Mayor Tran Sy Thanh welcomed German investors, including Siemens, to come and establish their Hanoi operations in the fields of industrials, technology, and transport infrastructure.
He also spoke highly of the ideas raised by Siemens about digital transformation and smart infrastructure development.
"The ideas raised by Siemens match the development path mapped out by the Government and suit the city's socio-economic conditions and attempts to produce a sustainable transportation sector and an e-government system," Thanh said.
Thanh, therefore, recommended that Siemens cooperate with Hanoi in urban railway development and lure German brains to bolster the city's growth.
"In 2024, the National Assembly will approve the amended Capital Law and the Capital general planning, thus turning the city into a green metropolis that meets international standards of transport and infrastructure," the Hanoi official said.
"Hanoi plans to complete and open ten urban railroad routes by 2035. Thus, the city needs support from international corporations around the world."
Highlighting Siemens' 30-year operations in Vietnam, Chairman Thanh expected that the trip of CEO and President Roland Busch would pave the way for Hanoi to finalize new agreements with Siemens given the potential of the economic and investing opportunities between Vietnam and Europe.
