According to experts, Vietnam is facing many challenges from the rapid urbanization rate and the over growing population. As such, the pressure is on Vietnam to develop smart city, as major cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city are looking for solutions for the overloaded infrastructure system.

At the same time, Mr. Thuc said, the application of technologies in smart cities is necessary to support economic development and mitigate risks from the urbanization process to environment, infrastructure and public order, at the same time it is necessary to improve the living standard for residential areas.
Meanwhile, the Chairman and General Director of Siemens Vietnam Pham Thai Lai said, the company understands Vietnam’s challenges and is working with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city on new solutions for urban areas to deal with these challenges. Specifically, the city will apply digital technologies to meet the rapid growing infrastructure development of these cities. Moreover, Siemens will work directly with cities to ensure digital technologies are integrated in master planning, with a view to realize its immediate advantages through reducing traffic congestion, improving air quality and stable electricity provision. Mr. Lai said, one of the important strategy of Siemens in the coming time is to provide cities with the best products, services and solutions. It is aimed to support Vietnam’s cities to become “smarter” toward the goal of sustainable development and prosperity.
