The Hanoi People’s Council is scheduled to hold a meeting to elect the city’s Chairman for the 2021-2026 period on July 22.
The Politburo has appointed the State Auditor General Tran Sy Thanh to the position of Vice Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and nominated him for the Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, pending approval by the municipal People’s Council.

Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Vo Van Thuong on behalf of the Politburo handed over the decision to Thanh in a ceremony today [July 15].
Thuong said Tran Sy Thanh, a member of the Party Central Committee, has excelled in every position he has held.
“With the experience, understanding of various fields, and many years living in Hanoi, the Politburo is confident that Thanh will fulfill all of his responsibilities and is worthy of the people’s expectation and trust,” Thuong said.

On this occasion, Thuong called for the Hanoi Party Committee to stay united and focused on ensuring Hanoi’s strong development in the next phase.
Sharing Thuong’s view, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung expected Thanh along with members of the Hanoi People’s Committee would complete all the city’s socio-economic development tasks.
