"Step For Kindness" campaign to support disadvantaged children in Vietnam

The community-powered campaign is back for its third year, encouraging participants from Vietnam and beyond to walk to support street children and vulnerable students in building brighter futures.

THE HANOI TIMES — The "Step For Kindness" campaign, which will run from June 26 to October 12, aims to unlock a pledged donation of US$97,000 from CapitaLand Hope Foundation by reaching a target of 440 million steps (400 million online and 40 million at the event).

The campaign includes a nationwide online step challenge and a major charity walk on October 12 in Ocean City, Hanoi, with two walking routes of two and five kilometers for all ages. Registration is open at https://togetherwestep.vn/ha-noi-2025/.

All of the donations will go directly to Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation to support Vietnamese children in crisis.

Founded in 2003,  Blue Dragon is a Hanoi-based charity that has helped over 30,000 children escape crisis and rebuild their lives through education, counselling, legal advocacy, and long-term support.

Now in its third year, the Step For Kindness charity themed Together We Step is part of the CapitaLand Hope Foundation's three-year pledge worth up to $270,000 to empower disadvantaged youth in Vietnam.

The funds raised will provide access to school, vocational training, life skills, and safe housing for children facing homelessness, exploitation, or extreme poverty.

"Together We Step is more than a fitness challenge; it's a movement of compassion," said Do Duy Vi, Co-CEO of Blue Dragon. "Every step we take is a step toward dignity, opportunity, and a better future for Vietnam's most vulnerable children."

Alwin Low, General Manager of CapitaLand Development (CLD), said: "This initiative celebrates 20 years of giving through the CapitaLand Hope Foundation (CHF) and reflects our long-standing commitment to building inclusive and resilient communities."

Since 2011, CLD has spent approximately US$2.8 million on corporate social responsibility initiatives in Vietnam, benefiting more than 19,000 children and young people.

Last year's campaign attracted over 5,000 participants. This year, organizers hope to double that number by engaging individuals, families, and organizations in a shared mission: walking for change.

For expatriates and international residents of Vietnam, Step For Kindness provides an opportunity to stay active, connect with the community, and contribute to a meaningful cause.
