Mechanisms are in place to ensure democratic and supervisory rights of the people as ward-level people’s councils are set to be abolished under the pilot urban administration model.

As a legislative body at the provincial level, the People’s Council is set to make key decisions for the city in the next five years.

With the new election, Hanoi People’s Committee has one chairman and six deputy chairpersons for the 2021-26 term.

The plant is expected to become fully operational in 2021, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Hung has said.

The dual target of both containing the Covid-19 pandemic and boosting economic recovery continues to be Hanoi’s utmost priority, said Hanoi’s mayor.

During the 2016 – 2020 period, Hanoi’s GRDP is estimated to have expanded by an average of 7.39%, resulting in income per capita of US$5,420 in 2020, 1.8 times the national average.

The newly appointed chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee said he is committed to serving the people and listening to the public to ensure efficiency in the city’s governance.

The city expects to promote the Hanoi brand as an attractive tourism destination the region and the world, and advertise the city’s image at major markets.

The investment promotion conference presents a big opportunity for both domestic and foreign enterprises doing business in Hanoi, said a local official.

The event, themed “Hanoi 2020 – Investment and Development Cooperation”, will take place at the National Convention Center on June 27.
