Perfect choices for those wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, Sa Pa, Dien Bien, Moc Chau, Da Lat, Sa Dec, and Phu Quoc, are the eight most intriguing travel destinations in January.
Sa Pa
The best time to visit Sapa is from March to May and from September to November. However, in the Winter from December to February, the weather in Sa Pa becomes very cold, but visitors will have the opportunity to watch the sunrise over the valley in the morning.
In recent years, there is snow in Sa Pa. If you have chance to travel to this picturesque town on this occasion, you will definitely see quite a romance scene. However, this is the reason why Sa Pa is always crowded at this time of the year.
Dien Bien
About 100 cherry trees are in full bloom on an island in Pa Khoang commune, Dien Bien district, making it the hottest destination in the northern Dien Bien province at this time of the year.
On January 6, a cherry blossom festival opened for the first time in the northwestern province of Dien Bien. The Pa Khoang – Dien Bien Cherry Blossom Festival 2018 consists of a host of cultural, sport and tourism activities, including movies screened on a mobile cinema, and tours around local popular destinations, such as the Che Can cultural village and the command post of the Dien Bien Phu battle. A photo exhibition and food tasting event promoting Vietnamese and Japanese features are also scheduled to take place.
The festival serves as a curtain raiser for several events in celebration of 45-year diplomatic ties between Viet Nam and Japan (September 21). It aims at fostering bilateral friendship and cooperation and promoting Japanese investment in Dien Bien.
Moc Chau
During Winter, a fine carpet of mustard blossoms overtakes Moc Chau. The mustard blooms in the winter, from late November to March. Come to Moc Chau on January, visitors can see vast fields of white mustard flowers.
Located approximately 200 km west of Hanoi, Moc Chau is an ideal destination for short trips. Moc Chau Plateau in Son La Province is 1,050m above sea level. It has a temperate climate. In winter, fog often covers the colourful orange wild sunflowers and red poinsettia flowers that bloom along the roadsides.
Da Lat
In Da Lat, Cherry blossoms are a symbol of spring. The trees are planted around Tuyen Lam Lake and along the major streets of the city centre. Dalat has just wrapped up its 120th anniversary and a huge celebration of the fifth flower festival.
Tourists to the city at this time can admire colorful flowers blooming everywhere from welcoming banners to pedestrian paths and around the Ho Xuan Huong Lake. People can also find the image of girls and couples in their colorful and cozy winter outfits as they pose for photos as the weather turns cold at around 14 Celsius degrees.
Travelers who have more time can rent a bike to cycle around and admire the dreamy city under a slight layer of mist which makes it look more romantic as you take in the immense pine forest in early morning. From a distance, tourists can recognize the market with the delicious smell of food vaporizing in the air. Some rustic but delicious cuisine available is boiled corn, grilled sweet potatoes, grilled squid/chicken/beef/sausage on a coal fire for authentic taste, porridge and Pho.
Sa Dec village
Situated near the Mekong River, the Sa Dec flower village in the city of the same name is famous for its flowers that bloom all year round, thanks to its rich soil that is fertilised by the river’s alluvial deposits. Less than 150 kilometres from Ho Chi Minh City, Sa Dec is becoming a flower capital of the southwestern region.
Covering 60 hectares, Sa Dec Flower Village has thousands of varieties of exotic flowers and strange plants. About 1,500 households in Sa Dec engage in flower farming. Unlike several other flower cities nationwide, Sa Dec’s fields yield flowers all year round.
In the past, the Sa Dec flower village was only busy in the springtime, but now the village is bustling throughout the year with buyers from across the region. Boats and trucks follow one after another out of the village to distribute flowers to Ho Chi Minh City, the neighbouring provinces and even further to markets in the northern and central region.
Phu Quoc
Thanks partly to its deep sand beaches and warm waters, in 2014 Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam has been cited among the world’s top winter destinations. Accordingly, Phu Quoc Island ranked third in a list of 15 recommended destinations for the best winter trips this year released by U.S. magazine National Geographic Traveler’s website, which promotes beautiful landscapes around the world.
Phu Quoc is an ideal destination during Winter time with the pristine beauty of tropical paradise islands like Mong Tay, Mat Rut, and Gam Ghi. In addition, Phu Quoc island is famous for blue beach, white sand and many beautiful landscape such as Cay Dua old prison.
