The Capital's master plan for transportation by 2030 with a vision to 2050 announced

Hanoi People`s Committee has recently held a ceremony to announce the city’s master plan for transportation by 2030 with a vision to 2050.
Attending the ceremony, there were Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, former Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung and many representatives of the Ministry, departments and neighboring localities.
Addressing the ceremony, Director of Transport Department Vu Van Vien said that Ha Noi covers an administrative area of over 3,344 km2 with 16,132 km of road and 400 km of waterway. However, its transportation system does not kept pace with its population growth and social and economic development.
The Government gave a nod to Ha Noi’s master plan for transportation by 2030 with a vision to 2050 at the Decision No. 1587/2008/QD – TTg dated August 25, 2010.
Accordingly, the local infrastructure network will be developed in synchronous, sustainable and modern manner in line with the socio-economic development plan, the planning of land use by 2020 and the capital city’s construction master plan to 2030 with a vision to 2050, aiming at facilitating travel of residents and easing traffic jams and accidents in the capital city, easily connecting to other localities.
Transport Engineering Design Inc. (TEDI) was assigned to conduct surveys, develop detailed transport development plan in four transport modes: road, railway, waterway, and aviation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung said that this master plan is very detailed, scientific and feasible; it will have a profound impact not only on the development of Ha Noi but also the Ha Noi Capital region, the northern economic region and the whole country.
He affirmed that the government will continue to create favourable conditions for Hanoi to effectively realise the master plan.
He stressed that this is an important legal basis for the management and implementation of city’s transport schemes, plans, projects to serve socio-economic development, linking the transport development of the capital with the development of the Capital region, the Red River Delta and the northern key economic region.
Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung expressed his deepest and sincere gratitude to the Government, relevant ministries, sectors, TEDI, scientists and people for their effective coordination during the formulation of this master plan.
