The Prime Minister: Citizens appreciate efforts and dedication of Hanoi’s leaders

The Prime Minister said, citizens in Hanoi appreciate the dedication and efforts from all administrative agencies in Hanoi. “Naturally we have to strive for better and more improvement, using efficient and accurate performance indicators”.

On September 29, the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has had a meeting with Hanoi People’s Committee on the current socio-economic development and public order of the city in the first 9 months of 2017, and discussed the objectives for the remaining 3 months.

Concluding the meeting, the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said, in 2 years, Hanoi has achieved positive results in socio – economic, security, foreign affair, especially met the target economic growth with new economic models. As such, it includes socializing investment fund and Information & Technology (IT) application.

The investment environment and administrative reform of Hanoi have progressed, in which the IT application index is at 2nd rank out of 64 provinces/ cities, and the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) is at 14th out of 63 provinces/ cities. The Prime Minister said, citizens in Hanoi appreciate the effort and dedication of all level of administrative agencies of the city. “Naturally we have to strive for better and more improvement, using efficient and accurate performance indicators” – the Prime Minister said. 

The Prime Minister also said that public order in Hanoi has improved with more trees, the city is cleaner and greener. Hanoi also sit at the top of the country with regard to the human development index (HDI) with achievements in culture, education, health, sport, especially the quality of education in high school and kindergarten level.

 Mentioning the proposal of Hanoi in banning motorbike by 2030, the Prime Minister highly regarded Hanoi’s effort in state management. “This is a good solution for better management in future”. On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister highly regarded the effort of Hanoi in recent years, especially for the duration of the past 2 years. As Hanoi is facing challenges from rapid growth rate of urbanization and growing population.

Statistics show, the area of Hanoi is at 17th compared to other capitals in the world. As such, improving living standard, infrastructure development and efficient population allocation are priority issues. In addition, Hanoi has to compete with other major cities in region in the context of integration in the market economy. With this being said, environmental pollution and traffic congestion are big problems.

The Prime Minister also mentioned about changing growth model, increase productivity in relation with training the labor force and new technology application; challenges on human resources, public services, education, health care, sports, and others to meet high demands from citizens; Bearing these in mind, the Prime Minister stressed the development objectives of Hanoi being “clean, green and discipline”. “Therefore, with the core value of Hanoi as a city for peace, the city must really strive for peace, civilization, culture and law compliance”.
