Thousands join Capital Women's Festival for Peace and Development

The Capital Women Festival for Peace and Development is an annual event to honor the beauty and ingenuity of women in the capital and other countries.

The Hanoi Times — About a thousand people aged 18-60 took part in the second "Healthy and Beautiful Capital Women" running race over the weekend, motivating physical training and the mass movement for sports following the example of President Ho Chi Minh.

The race is part of the Capital Women Festival for Peace and Development, a key activity of Women's Month in March, organized by the Hanoi Women's Union in coordination with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports.

In her opening speech, Le Kim Anh, Chairwoman of the Hanoi Women's Union, said that this year's festival is aimed at arousing pride in the tradition of the international women's movement, the glorious tradition of Vietnamese women, the tradition of the thousand-year-old capital, the City for Peace.

The program is meant to spread the spirit of solidarity, integration, and development between Hanoi women and international women, expressing the aspiration for a peaceful and developed world. At the same time, it created an exciting atmosphere to promote the role of women in the new era of the nation.

Nearly 300 actors, models, officials, members of women's unions, students from the capital, embassy officials, and members of friendship organizations took part in the "National Colors" art festival, the highlight of which was a tribute to ao dai (long dress), the traditional costume of Vietnamese ethnic groups and some countries.

Bui Thi Kim, dressed in Muong traditional costume from Thach That District, Hanoi, said: "I want to showcase the cultural identity of the Muong people at this festival, including our traditional attire. We are very excited to introduce gong performances to the public so that more people can experience the richness of Muong culture."
