Time-out ideas for National Day holiday

As well-known destinations may be too crowded during the holiday, there are still low-profile places close to Hanoi for you to spend relaxing time with your friends or family in one or two days.

No need to go far, there are plenty of exciting destinations to spend your next four days of National Day vacation (from September 1-4), escaping the hustle and bustle of daily life.   

Some places near Hanoi

 Ba Vi's beautiful wild landscape, traditional craft villages, and the simple life of ethnic people will not let you down.

Ba Vi Mountain (Hanoi): September is the time of season changing from summer to autumn, so the air is relatively cool, the weather is less volatile, very suitable for tourism activities. Boasting a mild and cool climate, Ba Vi is a favourite place for many young people. The National Day holiday coincides with the most beautiful season of the year here, so it is quite convenient to participate in fun activities, camping and picnics. Ba Vi's beautiful wild landscape, traditional craft villages, and the simple life of ethnic people will not let you down.

Tourists can visit Ba Vi National Park, Melia Ba Vi Resort, Uncle Ho's temple, K9 historical relic site, among others. Ba Vi District is also famous for cow's milk products.

City tour around Hanoi: Buy a ticket, hop on an open-air double-decker bus and Hanoi’s wealth of sightseeing is there for visitors to explore.  

Visitors can get on/off at 11 different stops, visiting famous places in Hanoi such as Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Temple of Literature and learning more about the landmarks and historical sites with the multilingual audio guide available on board, saving your memories with photos from the double-decker bus, and walking around 36 streets in Hanoi Old Quarter.

Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum relic site with Uncle Ho's Mausoleum, Uncle Ho's house on stilts and fish pond and pray at One Pillar Pagoda nearby – the lotus-shaped architecture of a lotus pond is a meaningful option for the Independence Day holiday.

The visit to Ho Chi Minh relic could be paired with stopping by the nearby Temple of Literature, the first university in Vietnam. It is an ancient architecture, built on a fairly large scale in October 1073 and has been kept nearly intact until today. The Temple of Literature was built to worship Confucius, the founder of Confucianism, and Chu Van An - the principal of Quoc Tu Giam - representing the high moral philosophy of Vietnamese education.

Bao Son Paradise Park: About 8km from the centrer of Hanoi, Bao Son Paradise is an attractive amusement choice for the holiday.

With a variety of tourist services such as exciting games, thrills such as high-speed slides, challenging twisting slides, children will be immersed in a fairy-tale world with castles or attractive performances such as a playful circus.

On the occasion of the National Day holiday, Bao Son Paradise Park held the Boho Festival from September 1 to 4, 2022 and also launched the largest virtual reality amusement park in the North - Baoson VR Game Park with a scale of up to 1000sq.m. This promises to be a destination to attract tourists inside and outside the capital in the coming time.

Inspired by Bohemian culture and lifestyle of the Central - Eastern European community who love freedom and art, Bao Son Paradise Park will recreate the colours of Bohemia with a lively street festival, dance show and vibrant music.

Thung Nai (Hoa Binh):  About 100km from Hanoi, Thung Nai is the first choice for a destination possessing a charming and romantic natural scenery.  Its  huge emerald green reservoir with high undulating mountains resembles "Ha Long Bay". This place all year round always knows how to please visitors with its calling card.

Visitors to Thung Nai can find a wonderful time relaxing while  exploring the scenery. Sitting on a boat and watching the world go by in the Da River is a fantastic experience. Daily stress and fatigue will disappear when you immerse yourself in the beautiful natural scenery of the waterway.

Mai Chau (Hoa Binh): About 140km from Hanoi, Mai Chau with the pure beauty of the mountains and rustic villages will be worth  a trip to discover the nature and culture of the Northwest villages and impressive Mai Chau specialties. Tourists can spend one night at the house on stilts of local people, discover the local life and ride bicycle to roam through each village at the foot of the majestic mountains and  the vast fields to feel the purity of this mountainous region.

Ninh Binh Province: More than 90km from Hanoi, Ninh Binh is home to destinations such as Trang An Complex, Bai Dinh Pagoda, Cuc Phuong National Park, Tam Coc-Bich Dong cave system, Mua Cave and the former royal citadel in Hoa Lu. Agricultural and rural tourism is gradually becoming a sustainable livelihood in the northern province of Ninh Binh, helping harness  rural values and preserve traditional culture.
