Traditional and modern Tet celebrations blend together at 2026 Vietnamese Tet Space

The Vietnamese Tet Space 2026 opens at Thong Nhat Park, offering traditional culture, regional specialties, OCOP products and immersive Tet experiences for Hanoi residents and visitors.

THE HANOI TIMES — The 2026 Vietnamese Tet Space at Thong Nhat Park has opened, creating a Lunar New Year atmosphere rich in traditional identity while blending with modern life and attracting large numbers of Hanoi residents and tourists.

The cultural program runs from February 6 to 13 and stands out as a key highlight in the series of activities welcoming the Year of the Horse 2026 in the capital.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on the evening of February 6, Nguyen Anh Duong, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, said the event is as a trade promotion activity and meets public shopping needs during Tet.

It also functions as a community cultural space where traditional Tet values are recreated, shared and connected with contemporary life, he said.

On opening night, Thong Nhat Park took on a vibrant, warm and festive appearance. Carefully designed and decorated areas recreated traditional Tet scenes from Hanoi and other regions, evoking memories of past New Year celebrations and turning the park into an attractive cultural, shopping and experiential destination in the heart of the city.

The 2026 Vietnamese Tet Space brings together more than 60 businesses, cooperatives and production facilities from provinces and cities nationwide, showcasing hundreds of regional specialties, key agricultural products, three- to five-star OCOP items and distinctive handicrafts.

According to Duong, as the domestic consumer market continues to recover and show positive growth, trade promotion programs linked to culture and tourism have delivered clear results in recent years.

Through these initiatives, many OCOP products, handicrafts and regional specialties have gained recognition and trust among Hanoi consumers, supporting goods circulation and helping stabilize the market during the Tet holiday.

Beyond exhibitions and shopping, the 2026 Vietnamese Tet Space offers visitors an immersive journey into traditional Tet culture.

Activities include making banh chung, demonstrating Tet feast arrangements, preparing five-fruit trays, requesting calligraphy and New Year couplets, crafting clay figurines, painting folk art and joining traditional games that attract large numbers of residents and tourists.

“The Vietnamese Tet Space is more than a marketplace. It is a place where people stay longer to meet, share and fully experience the nation’s traditional Tet atmosphere,” Duong said.

Alongside honoring traditional values, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade continues to promote digital transformation in trade promotion activities.

The department encourages businesses to innovate designs, improve product quality and expand the use of e-commerce and modern technology, aiming to support a green economy, a circular economy and a sustainable trade ecosystem.
