Turkish firms eye Hanoi for investment
The relations between Vietnam and Türkiye have seen encouraging progress, making Hanoi more appealing to Turkish partners.
THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi has become an increasingly attractive destination for Turkish enterprises, particularly in the construction and manufacturing sectors, said Hanoi People’s Committee Chairman Tran Sy Thanh.
During a meeting on July 7 with Turkish Ambassador to Vietnam Korhan Kemik, Chairman Thanh highlighted growing engagement from Turkish firms, citing IC Holdings, a subsidiary of Türkiye’s IC Ictas, as an example.
Since 2023, the company has shown interest in infrastructure investment projects in Hanoi.

Thanh said local authorities are committed to creating favorable conditions for international investors, especially in innovation, technology, logistics, high-tech agriculture, renewable energy, and tourism.
Ambassador Kemik agreed with Chairman Thanh’s remarks and attributed Turkish companies’ growing interest in Hanoi to the city’s significant development potential across multiple sectors, supported by the strong foundation of bilateral relations.
Both parties acknowledged the substantial progress in Vietnam-Türkiye relations, particularly in the economic sphere, since Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to Türkiye in 2023.
Last year, Vietnam-Türkiye’s bilateral trade reached a milestone of US$3 billion. “We are aiming to raise two-way trade to $4 billion. This is one of my top priorities during my tenure,” the Ambassador added.
He also highlighted Türkiye’s recent efforts to strengthen tourism and people-to-people exchanges with Vietnam, particularly with Hanoi. A recent Turkish Food Festival in Hanoi received strong public interest and positive feedback.
Additionally, starting in October 2025, Turkish Airlines plans to increase the number of direct flights from Istanbul to Vietnam from 14 to 20 per week. As of September 1, Türkiye will also begin issuing e-visas to Vietnamese tourists.
The ambassador further accentuated the cultural and historical affinities between the Vietnamese and Turkish peoples, describing both as compassionate and culturally rich societies.
On behalf of the Turkish government and people, he thanked Vietnam for its assistance following the 2023 earthquake in Türkiye. He also recalled Turkey’s timely financial and moral support for Vietnam during Typhoon Yagi in 2024.
The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to bolstering ties between Hanoi and Ankara, building on the sister-city agreement signed in 2011.
