Vietnam agro-forestry-fisheries exports to reach US$50 billion revenue by 2025
The agricultural industry will develop smart and green agriculture as well as adapt to climate change.

Vietnam’s agro-forestry-fisheries exports are estimated to reach US$50 billion revenue by 2025, according to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

This information was released by Minister Cuong in his speech titled “Developing farm produce in association with building new rural area towards modernization and international integration” on January 27 at the National Party Congress in Hanoi.
Among the sector’s goals for 2025, GDP growth rate of the whole industry is expected to reach 2.5 - 3.0% per year; the rate of communes meeting new-style rural standards will be 80%; the average income per capita of rural residents will be 1.5 times higher than that of 2020; and the rate of forest cover will remain at 42%.
In the socio-economic development orientation for the next five years, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development agreed with the viewpoints, goals, orientations and major tasks set out in the draft document for the development of agriculture.
The orientations including mass production of farm produce in the direction of modernization, high-tech application, increased value-added and sustainable development. The agricultural industry will consist of green and smart agriculture, as well as climate change adaptation; the continued implementation of the National Target Program on the construction of new-style rural areas in connection with the urbanization process, towards efficiency and sustainability.
“The main goal of the industry is to continue to develop sustainably according to the three pillars “economy, society and environment”, towards the realization of the general goal,” Minister Cuong said.
Agriculture is the strength of the country, and will continue to create sustainable livelihoods, and income for rural people and numerous workers; firmly ensure national food security in all circumstances and contribute to guaranteeing the socio-economic stability, he said.
